How do I change my own oil and oil filter?

what tools will I need?

will I be able to recognize the parts you're talking about?

Basically, how do I do this? How do I change my own oil and oil filter?
Its not hard. all you have to do is take the bolt (drain plug) out of the oil pan, swich the oil filter and replace the oil. Find your self a do it yourself manual. Anymore its just easyer and cheeper to go to a quick lube type shop and have them do it. Gerneraly 5 qts of oil and the filter is arround the same price as haveing them do it.How do I change my own oil and oil filter?
Yeah, have the quick lube place do it, and break something and screw you over and you have to fix it....

Check you cars owners manual, read what's the QUART capacity..... go get a 5 quart jug of havoline (Cheap, yet one of the best!) and go to napa and have them look up specifically what oil filter your engine uses.... DO NOT USE FRAMS... these are cheaply made and overpriced filters... get a oil drain pan (around 8-9 bucks) go home, pop the drain plug and let the oil drain till it doesn't no more.... and pull the oil filter off (you may need a oil filter wrench!) and let it drain in the pan..., put the drain plug back in!! and lightly oil the oil filters gasket, make sure its in place and put the filter on and hand tighten good, but not too much... fill the engine with oil (to the proper amount in the manual, or till it reads on the full mark on the dipstick) start the engine and watch for leaks. And your done. When the pan is full, auto parts stores like advance or autozone, etc. take used oil for free.

Your engine should take 5w-30... its basically a 5 weight when in the cold weather (w stands for winter) and a 30 weight at operating temp, it gives a very good cold start flow, which is what you need and want for your engine. No need for fancy oil filters with synthetic media...
Another good tip would be to run the engine for 10 minutes beforehand so that the oil warms up and becomes thinner, so that when you drain it, you get it ALL out.

But, reading your message it sounds like you have no experience of working on car engines, so just take it to a garage and have them do it for you! Much easier, and you won't get your hands dirty either!
Do you use ';oil filter'; and consume ';oil';? How strange!!!
