How come vegetable oil has fat when it's vegetable?

This question has been in my head since I was a child. Please help me clear this overwehlming question. How come vegetable oil has fat when it's vegetable?
Because vegetables have fat too. Vegetable oils are more unsaturated fat, and animal fats are more saturated fat (coconut oil is one of the exceptions, it has more saturated fat than anything else). How come vegetable oil has fat when it's vegetable?
If you make a salad out of lettuce, it is healthy because lettuce has no fat. But if you make an avocado and olive salad, that has a lot of fat, because it is made out of plant products that have fat. Olive oil, corn oil, canola oil, and walnut oil are all made out of plants. Report Abuse

A fat is any chemical called a triglyceride, which has 3 carbon chains off of a glyceride backbone. Oil is a type of fat that is liquid at room temperature, because it is most unsaturated fat. Saturated fat is solid at room temperature. Report Abuse

I do hope you try to learn more about nutrition, so you can make informed choices about what to eat. Report Abuse

Actually, oil doesn't HAVE fat, OIL IS FAT!!!
Some plants have fat in them, for example avocado and all types of nuts. In general, vegetable fat is a lot healthier than animal fat (such as you'd find in meat, milk, butter, cheese), and vegetables are generally very low in fat compared to animal foodstuff. So if you stick to eating just vegetables, you're basically staying very healthy!
Because vegetables have oil in them.
Olive oil comes from olives. canola oil comes from canola, peanut oil comes from peanuts etc.............oil is fat
Because vegatable oil is a lipid
