Can you pour oil down the sink drain?

I know you're not supposed to pour grease down the drain, but what about vegetable oil I fried up some hash browns in?Can you pour oil down the sink drain?
generally not a good idea to pour oil or grease of any kind down the sink....it will clog up your drain even if you run hot water down after it. The best thing to do is to keep a container(ie. glass jar) by your stove to dispose of grease and oil.. then throw it out ....or store it in a larger container and dispose of it at the local dumpCan you pour oil down the sink drain?
I'd pour it in your neighbors garden when they aren't looking. Report Abuse

Yes, but it might clog. After you have reused it as much as you find desirable, why not feed it to the plants in the back yard?
Absolutely not, no matter what kind of oil.

You could very easily create a backup and flood your kitchen...
don't do it it will clog and only cause problems in the future
Sure, if you have a good plumber on speed dial! :)

I highly recommend you don't pour oil down the drain. I can congeal and clog your drain. You should use an empty jar or can, something with a lid, let the oil sit and become solid and throw it away.
It does the same thing to the sink. Just dump it in the trash, or under a tree.
The problem with oil is it tends to cling to the surfaces of the pipes and go rancid - which makes your drain smell bad. You can get different types of drain and disposer cleaners at most grocery stores in the cleaning products aisle. Most of them are pretty good, remember to follow the instructions on the bottle.
i suggest you get a empty can of sauce or something with a lid and once the oil gets cold pour it in the bottle that's what i do and once it gets fill i just throw it away.
No, it will clog the drain because it's so thick.
Not very much, it will clog your drain!! But, if you have already done so, run HOT water for a couple of minutes along with some Dawn or other good dish soap.
What would your local environmental officer say if they knew that you were even thinking about it ?
never.

that would be a 'great' drain clogger.

pour it in a baggie for the trash, or go outside an

pour it way out the backyard for the critters.

good luck.
